Christine Carr has a knack for people-watching, analyzing consumer behavior in places like cafes and rest stops across New Hampshire. Drawing from her entrepreneurial background and passion for her home state, she founded Hidden Local NH, a website that showcases curated small businesses, artisans, events, and lesser-known spots.
After closing the Village Art Cafe with her partner, Paula Kay Kerouac, in early 2023, Carr launched Hidden Local in April. From her new workspace at Village Art Annex in Antrim, she focuses on highlighting local offerings to ensure they resonate with both tourists and residents.
Her previous experience at Canadian Technology Accelerators in Boston, where she supported entrepreneurs, informs her current mission to build a collaborative network of local businesses. She believes that small businesses can amplify their impact by coming together.
Eileen Belanger, owner of The Cider Mill Gallery, recently joined Carr’s initiative, expressing satisfaction with the increased exposure and support for her art. Carr dedicates time each week to explore different towns, studying business placements and local cultures to effectively promote them.
Currently, eight businesses benefit from her marketing expertise for a monthly fee. Carr aims to gather data to identify consumer patterns, shaping future marketing strategies. To learn more, visit hiddenlocalnh.com.
