Accenture and Google Cloud Partner with Volvo Cars to Transform Automotive Software Development

GOTHENBURG, Sweden and SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Sept. 22, 2026
Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and Google Cloud have announced that Volvo Cars is now the lead industry partner for Horizon, an open-source software development platform designed to enhance the efficiency of building, testing, and deploying software for the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS).

About Horizon

Horizon integrates cloud-native development tools, virtual testing environments, and AI-assisted workflows into a single platform, enabling automotive manufacturers to develop and deliver high-quality software more rapidly. By migrating its global AAOS software development to Horizon, Volvo Cars aims to enhance engineering productivity and innovation.

Gregor Zetsche, Head of Connected Experience at Volvo Cars, stated, “We’re building some of the most complex products in the world, which requires a development environment built to match. As Horizon’s lead industry partner, we can directly solve our toughest engineering challenges and empower our teams to deliver new experiences faster than ever.”

Key Benefits of the Horizon Platform

  2. Cost Reduction: Infotainment feature development costs can be reduced by up to 40%.
  3. Efficient Build Processes: Optimized pipelines and intelligent caching allow engineers to receive feedback in minutes, rather than hours.
  4. Remote Access: Developers can build and validate software from anywhere, diminishing the need for physical test equipment.
