In the early hours of the morning, surveillance footage captured a man vandalizing the front door of Mantiiras in Dallas’ Bishop Arts district and stealing cash from the register. Owner Luis Martinez, who founded Mantiiras in 2023 at just 18, expressed his pride in his business and concern for his family’s well-being. The thief made off with all the profits from the previous day.
Shortly after, another man was recorded entering through the broken door, stealing soda and merchandise. The repair for the damaged door cost Martinez $600, which he paid out of pocket.
Mantiiras wasn’t alone; nearby Wayward Coffee also fell victim to a burglary involving what appeared to be the same perpetrator, who kicked in their door and took the cash register. Owner Caroline Irby condemned the act as both destructive and violating.
Both Martinez and Irby are advocating for the perpetrator to be held accountable for these crimes.
