In a groundbreaking development for the entertainment sector, Simon Horsman has unveiled a new AI platform called Quilty, designed to aid industry professionals in various aspects of their work.
Quilty claims to be the first all-encompassing intelligence platform for the entertainment industry, aimed at enhancing the creative process and optimizing the logistics involved in production.
“For decades, the industry has relied on costly, fragmented solutions and informal networks for decision-making,” explained Horsman, CEO of Quilty. “Quilty brings every creative and commercial decision together in one place, granting filmmakers, producers, financiers, studio heads, buyers, and their representatives affordable access to crucial insights. This accelerates project progression with greater confidence and expanded opportunities for collaboration.”
“In a landscape filled with hype, Quilty sets itself apart as a genuine game changer, appealing to both first-time writers and studio executives,” he added.
Horsman, an Emmy-winning producer and technology and entertainment lawyer, co-founded Quilty with tech entrepreneur and film producer Daniel Wood. Together, they developed this tool to facilitate high-stakes creative and financial decisions for significant productions. The platform features a unique “Quilty Score,” an AI-driven evaluation system that assesses projects across four key dimensions: Story & Craft, Commercial Viability, Cultural Resonance, and Production Reality.
“Enhanced decision-making is just the beginning,” emphasized Wood, Quilty’s CTO and co-founder. “The principles driving the Quilty Score—transparency, objectivity, and commercial viability—apply to every dollar spent in a production.”
“We’re paving the way for a future where creators receive fair evaluations of their work and where stakeholders investing time and resources into projects can utilize innovative tools to maximize the chances of achieving favorable outcomes,” he added.
The Quilty AI tool aims to centralize various aspects including creative analysis, writer development, packaging, market forecasting, production planning, industry introductions, and legal intelligence.
As Quilty launches, users and subscribers will be able to access a free preview of the platform’s analysis. A detailed evaluation can then be unlocked for a fee of $49.99.
The partnership between the producers spans two decades, originating at PriceGrabber.com. Following a successful $485 million acquisition in 2005, Horsman and Wood transitioned into the entertainment field. Horsman has since won an Emmy, a Tony, and an Olivier award, successfully raising over $350 million in entertainment financing.
Quilty represents a significant leap forward for the entertainment industry. By integrating technology into the creative and production processes, it promises to democratize access to vital industry insights and support filmmakers at all levels. As the platform gains traction, it may redefine how projects are evaluated and funded, fostering a more equitable environment for creators and investors alike.
