Huawei-JAC’s Maextro Addresses Brake Pedal Issues in Its $150,000 Vehicle

The Maextro V800, a luxury minivan from Huawei and JAC, faces scrutiny after reports of brake pedal failures during emergency tests. A video revealed that the brake pedal brackets fractured at high speeds, raising serious safety concerns and questioning the vehicle’s quality control. Despite Maextro’s assurances of compliance with national and industry standards, the issues have led to doubts about the vehicle’s overall reliability, particularly given its high price range.

Testing indicated that the braking force reached 1,612 N, but some figures in the testing video were misrepresented. The design flaws noted include inadequate reinforcement of the brake pedal, potentially compromising safety. In response, Maextro plans to redesign the brake pedal and offer upgrades for existing customers. However, the incident highlights broader quality concerns in China’s premium electric vehicle market, especially amidst rising competition. Other automakers have begun to share their braking system details to counteract negativity.
