The BMW iX4, set to launch in March 2027 with a starting price of $66,200 in the US, expands the automaker’s Neue Klasse concept beyond core models. This electric SUV coupe features a 112.2 kW/h battery with a range of 428 miles and a high-performance 603 hp M60 xDrive variant.
Manufactured in Debrecen, Hungary, the iX4 utilizes an 800V sixth-generation drive system with improved energy density from new cylindrical cells. Cost-efficiency is also emphasized, with design choices that reduce energy losses by 40%, production costs by 20%, and drive weight by 10%.
The vehicle’s software capabilities are notable, including Operating System X, which supports continuous updates and features a voice assistant powered by Amazon Alexa. Mike Reichelt, Head of Neue Klasse, highlighted the iX4’s blend of sportiness, elegant design, and innovative technology as key to its appeal within BMW’s electric lineup.
