Recent News: Giorgia Meloni Files for Trademark
Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni has filed to trademark her voice, aiming to protect herself against AI-generated deepfakes. The application includes a four-second audio clip of her saying, “Io sono Giorgia Meloni” (“I am Giorgia Meloni”). This move comes as public figures confront the rise of artificial intelligence tools that replicate voices and images. Meloni has faced the circulation of manipulated images of herself online and has expressed concerns about misleading content proliferating on the internet.
Meloni’s application underscores the importance of safeguarding identities in the age of digital manipulation, an issue magnified by well-known figures like Taylor Swift facing deepfake threats.
