On Saturday, Ventura County firefighters rescued a dog trapped in a car that had driven off the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu and into the ocean. The incident occurred near Deer Creek Road when emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, they discovered a white van partially submerged in the water near large rocks. The driver had managed to escape with one dog, but the second dog was still in the vehicle. Firefighters, along with lifeguards from California State Parks, safely accessed the van and rescued the trapped dog, bringing it back to the roadway.
Fortunately, neither of the dogs was injured, although the driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
