Marsh Agency Consolidates East and Northeast Regions Under Andrew Neary’s Leadership

Marsh Agency Merges East and Northeast Regions

Overview:
Marsh Agency, a prominent middle-market brokerage in the US, has merged its East and Northeast regions, creating a unified team of approximately 1,400 staff members. Andrew Neary has been appointed as the chief executive of this consolidated operation.

Key Details:

  • New Structure: The merged East region encompasses New York, New Jersey, New England, and the broader Northeast.
  • Leadership: Andrew Neary, who previously led the East region for five years, will oversee this new division from Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. His responsibilities include managing client services, sales, and operations, alongside simplifying operations and integrating resources from both legacy regions.
  • Change in Leadership: Jerry Alderman, the former CEO of the Northeast region, has exited the firm.

Strategic Goals:
The merger aims to enhance client service by providing an expanded pool of industry specialists and resources while maintaining existing client relationships. Matt Stadler, president of Marsh Agency, noted that Neary has established a formidable operational model and culture in the East region.

Neary’s Background:

Neary has a strong foundation in employee benefits, having been part of Marsh’s leadership team for 16 years and previously leading their employee health and benefits practice. His new role expands his oversight to a broader property and casualty and benefits operation.

Broader Leadership Changes:

The merger is part of a significant leadership transition at Marsh Agency. Recent changes include Matt Stadler being appointed as CEO, succeeding David Eslick, who will transition to chairman in 2027. Other leadership shifts include John Stanchina taking over as president and Guy Morrison succeeding him in the Mid-Atlantic.

Impact on the Market:

The merging of these regions may reshape the competitive landscape, as independent agencies in the middle market may face a more formidable competitor due to Marsh’s enhanced operational efficiencies and resource consolidation. The structural changes may also affect interactions with carriers and wholesalers as they adapt to a consolidated regional management team.

Future Outlook:

Marsh Agency has acquired over 100 agencies since its establishment, generating more than $5 billion in revenue annually. As the organization continues its rebranding efforts from Marsh McLennan Agency, changes initiated in September will carry through to 2027, further solidifying its market position.
