Huntsville’s “secret sauce,” as outlined by Mayor Tommy Battle, lies in fostering relationships across various levels of government and industry. This collaborative approach helped Huntsville gain recognition as a Secret Sauce Community by Heartland Forward, alongside Grand Rapids, Mich., and Oklahoma City.
During the recent Heartland Summit, Huntsville showcased its innovative economic growth strategies, cultural vitality, and community development initiatives. Chip Cherry, CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, expressed pride in representing Huntsville, highlighting the importance of learning from peer cities while continuously striving for improvement.
Heartland Forward emphasized that these selected cities have successfully created unique opportunities and competitive economies by remaining rooted in their culture. Huntsville, known for its booming aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing sectors, ranks among the fastest-growing metro areas in the U.S., buoyed by a strong engineering workforce.
The Heartland Summit, co-founded by the Walton family in 2018, aims to spark economic growth in the heartland and reshape the narrative surrounding the region, emphasizing collaborative solutions to shared challenges.
