Ceiling Collapse Leads to Closure of Nearby Business in Northern Colorado

A roof collapsed at a business under construction in Northern Colorado this week, causing significant disruptions for nearby businesses. Billie Colson, owner of Independence Gallery and Frame Shop in Loveland, experienced a loud rumble and vibrations in her shop, prompting her to evacuate as fire department officials declared the building unsafe.

Days later, Colson remains closed, impacting her ability to serve customers. Despite this setback, she has been in communication with city officials about plans to stabilize the affected building, although it may take weeks before she can reopen.

This unfortunate incident comes at a challenging time for Colson, who had two gallery tours planned and is struggling to recover from slower sales due to ongoing construction in downtown Loveland. She expressed that the current difficulties are even tougher than those faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Colson stays hopeful, citing, “I think this, too, shall pass,” and has secured an alternative venue for at least one of her upcoming studio tours nearby.
