Fresh audio experience brings Ohio’s aviation and space heritage to life.

Travelers in Ohio can now explore the state’s rich aviation and aerospace history through a free GPS-guided audio tour called “Ohio’s Air and Space History.” Launched by America 250-Ohio, this tour is accessible via the TravelStorys app and covers over 30 significant sites, including various museums and landmarks in cities like Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, and Toledo.

As users approach these locations, engaging stories begin to play, celebrating Ohio’s pivotal contributions to aviation and space exploration. Highlights include the innovative work of the Wright brothers, the achievements of astronauts such as John Glenn and Neil Armstrong, and the state’s role in lighter-than-air flight and women’s contributions during World War II.

Todd Kleismit, Executive Director of America 250-Ohio, emphasizes that this tour allows people to connect with Ohio’s proud aerospace legacy, whether they’re at historic sites or listening from home. The app also allows for offline use and offers a podcast-style option for those unable to travel.

Additionally, users can earn an exclusive Ohio Air & Space Trail patch by checking in at six different locations along the trail. The initiative debuted on October 1 as part of the America 250-Ohio’s Trails & Tales program, celebrating the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
