Aurora Police Introduce Program to Combat Business Crime

The Aurora Police Department has recently launched the Business Shield Initiative to foster stronger relationships with local businesses and proactively address crime. This program, which started on September 1, aims to enhance security measures for businesses in the community.

Police area representatives will provide valuable information and advice to help business owners and managers protect their establishments. According to the department, Aurora’s diverse business community—ranging from family-run restaurants to retail chains—is vital to the city’s economy and character.

While commercial robbery and burglary rates have declined, shoplifting incidents have risen, with 738 reported cases so far this year compared to 664 at the same time last year. The initiative not only seeks to improve relationships between police and businesses but also aims to educate the community, ultimately reducing crime around businesses.
