Frugal Fannie’s in Westwood Shutting Its Doors After 43 Years of Operation

Frugal Fannie’s, a longtime discount clothing store in Westwood, is closing after more than 40 years of operation. The store, known for its bargain-priced clothing and welcoming atmosphere, will hold a going-out-of-business sale starting Thursday. Co-owner Kathleen Doxer cited health concerns, retirement of key staff, and the expiration of their lease as reasons for the closure.

Frugal Fannie’s has been a popular destination for shoppers seeking brand-name and designer clothing at reduced prices. The shop opened in 1983 and grew to include multiple locations before downsizing to its current Westwood store.

Kathleen expressed sadness over the closure, mentioning the strong ties formed with long-time employees and loyal customers. The owners hope patrons will visit during the final weeks of operation. There is currently no set date for the store’s permanent closing.
