Travelers using U.S. 101 between Forks and Hoquiam should prepare for significant delays and detours due to emergency repairs on the Hoh River Bridge, as reported by the Olympic National Park Service. The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced scheduled closures for these repairs.
Scheduled Closures:
- Sept. 24 at 5 a.m. – Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.
- Oct. 1 at 5 a.m. – Oct. 6 at noon
- Oct. 8 at 5 a.m. – Oct. 13 at noon
During these closures, the bridge will not be accessible to any vehicle traffic, and there is no local detour across the Hoh River. Travelers attempting to navigate between the northern and southern parts of the Olympic Peninsula will have to take an extended alternate route.
The closures will affect guests traveling to and from destinations like Forks, Hoh Rain Forest, Lake Crescent in the north, and Lake Quinault, Kalaloch, and Ruby Beach in the south.
Moreover, outside of the scheduled closures, motorists should anticipate one-lane alternating traffic and a reduced speed limit at the bridge.
