Nestlé Evaluates All Alternatives Following Kremlin’s Actions to Take Over Its Russian Operations | The Mighty 790 KFGO

Nestlé is evaluating its options after the Russian government took control of its business in the country, as part of broader actions against Western companies since the Ukraine conflict began. The Swiss company, which produces products such as Nescafé and KitKat, announced it is committed to protecting its rights and ensuring continuity for its employees, though it has not disclosed specific actions it might take. The move follows a presidential decree that allows Russia to manage foreign-owned assets from “unfriendly” nations.

Nestlé has significantly reduced its operations in Russia, contributing about 1% to its total sales. The company had reported approximately 2 billion Swiss francs in sales from Russia in 2021 before scaling back its activities. Other Western firms, like Auchan, have also faced similar asset control measures in Russia. Analysts suggest these developments may lead to asset impairments for Nestlé, and any potential compensation for lost assets seems unlikely.
