The upcoming Space Coast Innovation Park at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville is set to transform the area by adding 1,500 to 2,000 high-tech aerospace jobs over its three-phase development. Spanning 50 acres, the project will encompass 1 million square feet for aerospace and defense manufacturing, including office space, hangars, and testing facilities. This initiative is a collaboration between Florida Commerce, Space Florida, and the Florida Department of Transportation, aiming to revitalize previously unused land held by the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority for about 20 years.
Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, emphasized the need for infrastructure to attract supply chain, defense, and aerospace companies, particularly given the location’s proximity to the Kennedy Space Center. The park is expected to boost the local economy by generating new jobs and increasing property tax revenues, enhancing the region’s competitiveness in attracting businesses. Kevin Daughtery, of the airport authority, noted a shift in interest from mere inquiries to genuine investment from companies looking to establish a presence in the area.
