The Carbondale Area High School Science and Technology Club hosted an engaging “Blast Off to Summer” STEM Night, aimed at elementary students as the school year wrapped up in 2025-26. The event featured hands-on activities that explored chemistry and physics, sparking excitement among the young participants.
Students got to design and race balloon-powered vehicles in a friendly competition. They experienced chemical reactions firsthand by creating exploding film canister rockets. Creativity shone through as students combined art with science, making colorful salt paintings. The event culminated in a favorite activity: making homemade ice cream while learning about the chemistry involved. Each station was run by STEM Club members, who provided guidance and encouragement to the younger students throughout the evening.
