CenterPoint Energy is preparing to sell its Ohio natural gas business to National Fuel Gas Company, with the sale expected to be finalized around October 1. This $2.6 billion acquisition was initially announced a year ago. CenterPoint, based in Houston, operates approximately 5,900 miles of pipeline and serves about 335,000 customers in west central Ohio. The rates will remain regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Ohio. The acquisition will double National Fuel’s customer base and extend its operations into Ohio, which is known for its supportive regulatory environment for natural gas.
