The Colorado Department of Agriculture has revoked Boardmoor Pet Resort owner Daniel O’Sullivan’s license for two years after an investigation linked to the deaths of three dogs at the facility. The investigation revealed that Boardmoor Pet Resort failed six inspections between June 2025 and March 2026.
Two of the deceased dogs, Rosie and Jax, belonged to the Gomez family. O’Sullivan claimed the deaths were accidental, attributing them to a lapse in security when he neglected to secure a kennel door properly. The facility also faced issues due to a bully breed dog named Nyx, which escaped and attacked the Gomez dogs. O’Sullivan admitted that a carabiner—used to secure kennels—was forgotten on the day of the incident.
Further compounding the situation, the facility had a history of safety violations, including an incident where Nyx had previously injured another dog and a staff member. A month after the Gomez dogs’ deaths, a third dog named Cheesecake also died due to what was determined to be a lack of veterinary care.
O’Sullivan has faced criminal charges, including unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog and animal cruelty, and has been fined and placed on probation. Despite the revocation of his license, Veronica Gomez expressed sorrow over the situation, emphasizing that the focus should have been on the care of her dogs rather than the consequences for O’Sullivan.
