JetBlue and Virgin Voyages Launch Kid-Free Flight Package
If you’ve ever been on a flight with a screaming baby or a toddler kicking your seat, you may have wished for a kid-free experience. JetBlue Vacations and Virgin Voyages are making that a reality—at least for one roundtrip flight.
Premium Experience: The “Do Not Disturb” Package
This new offering is part of an industry shift toward “premiumization,” catering to travelers willing to pay more for comfort and convenience. The “Do Not Disturb” vacation package includes:
- A kid-free roundtrip flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale
- Four nights on the Brilliant Lady adults-only cruise from Key West to Bimini Beach Club
- Costs about $2,750 for two people
- Additional perks like private ground transfers, VIP port entry, and an in-flight toast to celebrate the start of the getaway
According to Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, this is a long-awaited option for travelers, and although it’s currently a one-time offer, he believes it’s just the beginning.
Is It Worth It?
While this package seems appealing, it’s worth considering whether a premium experience is necessary—especially given rising expenses in the airline industry. In a survey, many travelers expressed frustration over unruly adults rather than kids on flights. Airlines have made headlines recently regarding the rising issue of disruptive passengers, which contributes to the desire for premium-class tickets.
Making a Decision
When it comes to deciding whether to pay for premium, consider:
- Flight Duration: For long-haul or red-eye flights, spending extra may provide more comfort.
- Budget vs. Priorities: Weigh your financial circumstances and the value you place on a premium experience.
Ultimately, whether to pay for such experiences will depend on individual needs and preferences in today’s challenging travel landscape.
