Dolphin Global Integrates SimScale AI for Advancing Cooling System Design

Heavy-duty and industrial cooling systems manufacturer Dolphin Global has implemented advanced AI tools from cloud simulation platform SimScale to enhance its heat exchanger and radiator designs. This technology aims to optimize heat transfer, minimize cooling power needs, improve clogging resistance, and create more compact cooling systems for high-power equipment.

The increasing thermal demands on heavy-duty, locomotive, and off-highway equipment make traditional radiator design methods less effective. By utilizing AI-driven simulation, Dolphin can assess a wider array of design options regarding cores, fins, tubes, and airflow, allowing engineers to discover superior designs more efficiently. This approach balances various factors, including thermal performance, pressure drop, weight, durability, packaging, and manufacturability.

Dolphin plans to further integrate SimScale’s AI and digital simulation tools across its heavy-duty, locomotive, truck, bus, off-highway, and industrial models in the near future. This technology will enable comprehensive computational fluid dynamics and thermal simulations for optimizing thermal efficiency in configurations like shell-and-tube and plate heat exchangers.

The adoption of these tools represents a significant step in Dolphin’s commitment to digital-first engineering, allowing their technical team to test and refine thermal and fluid performance earlier in the design process, well ahead of physical prototyping.
