Consumers Energy is launching a new tool aimed at keeping customers informed about ongoing natural gas work in their areas, especially relevant following recent severe storms and tornadoes.
Introducing Crew Check
This online feature allows residents to verify whether Consumers Energy crews are conducting natural gas work nearby by simply entering their address. The tool provides essential details such as vehicle identification numbers and, in some cases, license plate numbers for quick crew identification. If multiple vehicles are involved in gas upgrades, Crew Check will confirm their work status and offer tips for authenticating these crews.
LeeRoy Wells, Jr., Consumers Energy’s President of Gas Delivery, stated, “Crew Check places information in the hands of customers with just the click of a button. It not only helps customers see where work is happening but also enhances safety by allowing them to identify crews in their neighborhoods.”
Additional Information
Crew Check confirms all work conducted by Consumers Energy crews. However, it may not confirm work conducted by third-party contractors or if vehicle locations are restricted. Personal addresses and street names will not be displayed for privacy reasons.
Wells emphasized, “Safety for our customers and crews is at the heart of everything we do, and building awareness is key to fostering trust and transparency with the communities we serve.”
Availability
Crew Check is accessible across the southeast Michigan, Flint, Jackson, Lansing, and Kalamazoo regions. Customers can access the tool via the provided link or call 1-800-760-3295 to verify crew members’ identities at any time.
