The Museum of Discovery has appointed Josh Annett as its new executive director, effective Friday, September 4. Annett, who has been with the museum for over 14 years, will lead the institution as it approaches its centennial celebration in 2027. He succeeds Steven Schnell.
Joining the museum in 2012 after nearly eight years in the U.S. Air Force, Annett has held various leadership roles, overseeing areas such as exhibits, facilities, and long-term planning. His experience has shaped a leadership style focused on preparation, problem-solving, and commitment to teamwork.
Megan Eves, the chair of the Museum of Discovery Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Annett’s leadership, citing his determination and ability to tackle complex challenges effectively. Notably, Annett played a crucial role in the museum’s recovery after a devastating flood in February 2021, leading efforts that enabled the museum to reopen within seven months.
Annett emphasized his respect for the museum’s history and his commitment to its future, pledging to work collaboratively with staff, the board, donors, and community partners to strengthen the institution and its impact on Arkansas families.
