The Gustavus campus is undergoing significant changes reflective of modern communication and community needs. As the traditional post office model shifts due to the rise of digital communication, the new integration of locker pickups enhances package retrieval for students. This upgrade coincides with a refresh of The Book Mark bookstore, featuring improved layouts and amenities.
The renovation also aims to create a welcoming gathering space, inspired by Swedish coffee culture, which includes a new Courtyard Café. This café will serve as a social hub with ample seating, a double-sided fireplace, and convenient charging stations, encouraging relaxation and connection among students and staff.
Travis Jordan and President Volin highlight the importance of these developments in fostering community, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging at Gustavus. The design invites not just students but also faculty and staff to engage in the space, aiming to create a vibrant, versatile atmosphere that will evolve with its users.
