2026 Border Biennial/Bienal Fronteriza Exhibition
El Paso, Texas – The 2026 Border Biennial/Bienal Fronteriza is set to showcase the rich culture and art of the U.S.-Mexico border communities. The exhibition opens on September 4th, with a celebration at the El Paso Museum of Art from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by an event at the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juarez at 7 p.m..
The exhibition will feature nearly 100 pieces from over 30 artists and two collectives across Arizona, Chihuahua, New Mexico, and Texas, offering contemporary perspectives on the complexities and connections within the border region.
This year’s theme, “Imagining the Border,” will delve into the stories, identities, and experiences that characterize life in the Borderland.
The exhibition aims to create a binational artistic experience, reflecting the profound cultural ties between the two communities. Interactive experiences for visitors will be available at the EPMA’s Espacio Creativo.
Curated by Adriana Miramontes Olivas and Alejandro Morales, the exhibition is organized by the City of El Paso Museums & Cultural Affairs Department in collaboration with the Secretaría de Cultura de México and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura.
