Telit Cinterion Brings Cellular IoT Module Manufacturing to the U.S.

Telit Cinterion is set to begin manufacturing 4G and 5G IoT modules and connected products in Pennsylvania starting in October 2026. This move aims to provide a U.S. production option that addresses growing concerns around supply-chain traceability and trusted sourcing.
The location of manufacturing is becoming a critical factor in the cellular IoT hardware sector, especially for products meant for critical infrastructure and defense. Organizations need to ensure visibility in manufacturing and testing processes as well as the supply chain.
U.S.-Based Manufacturing
Telit Cinterion is expanding its global footprint with a new 8,000-square-foot facility in Bristol, Pennsylvania. This facility will focus on manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance. The engineering and supply-chain support will be supplied by the company’s existing operations in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and Boca Raton, Florida.
The initial phase of this initiative is expected to create at least 50 jobs. The facility will cater to both U.S. and international markets, producing cellular IoT modules and customer products that incorporate Telit Cinterion technology.
Strategic Importance of Location
The significance of this announcement lies not just in adding another production site, but in its strategic location aimed at addressing specific customer bases. The investment is particularly connected to sectors that require high reliability in communications hardware, such as defense and mission-critical applications where the origin of products is vital.
Supply-Chain Strategy Evolution
This move exemplifies a shift in Telit Cinterion’s manufacturing strategy. Prior to this, in 2023, the company partnered with VVDN Technologies in India to manufacture modules and custom products, indicating that location was becoming a key decision factor for technology buyers.
With manufacturing now on U.S. soil, OEMs and system integrators in regulated markets can take advantage of the new sourcing option without having to change their existing module suppliers or technology platforms.
Implications for the Industry
The initiative signals a broader trend in which cellular module vendors are increasingly measured not just on technology but also on manufacturing geography, supply-chain transparency, and compliance with specific regulatory requirements.
The Bristol facility marks the first phase of Telit Cinterion’s long-term plans to bolster U.S. manufacturing capabilities. While further capacity targets have not been disclosed, the company intends to focus on investment in domestic manufacturing, workforce development, and enhancing supply-chain resilience.
