NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is on a three-month, million-mile journey to its final orbit, set to reveal the universe’s darkest secrets. It launched on August 30 at 7:26 a.m. EDT aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Roman features a large field of view and crisp infrared vision, allowing astronomers to explore dark matter, dark energy, and exoplanets—worlds beyond our solar system. This mission is the fourth primary one NASA has launched using a Falcon Heavy rocket, following the agency’s collaboration with SpaceX to speed up the launch date due to the telescope’s early completion.
