Syensqo Introduces Fragrant Compounding Technology to India

Syensqo is making a significant investment in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at its facility in Panoli, India. This expansion aims to support one of the fastest-growing automotive markets globally. Set to be operational by Q1 2028, the new line will double the current compounding capacity and serve as the first component of a modular compounding hub. This hub will enable the compounding of various materials, including Ryton polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA), and Ixef polyarylamide (PARA), thus providing the flexibility to adapt to changing customer and market demands.

The move strengthens Syensqo’s supply capabilities in India, catering to both local and global automotive manufacturers, while aligning with India’s Make in India initiative. The aromatic polymers produced are vital for high-performance applications in the automotive sector, where factors like high-temperature and chemical resistance, mechanical performance, and lightweighting are crucial.

Tom Wood, VP Product and Asset Manager at Syensqo, emphasized the importance of the Indian market for high-performance polymers and the need to bring compounding capacity closer to customers. This investment builds on Syensqo’s existing manufacturing and research presence in India, reinforcing its commitment to growth across the Asia Pacific region.
