Bender Plumbing Supply plans to expand its headquarters and warehouse in New Haven, increasing the building’s size by approximately 38% with the addition of 12,751 square feet. The current building, roughly 33,400 square feet, will grow to about 46,200 square feet. The expansion will take place on the western side of the building and includes minor grading, utility work, and a new underground system for managing roof runoff.
The warehouse, built in 1963, is located on 4.08 acres and was acquired in 2014 by 580 Grand Avenue LLC for $1.55 million. The property is appraised at $1.73 million, with ownership linked to Nina Bender. Bender Plumbing Supply, a fourth-generation family business, operates additional locations across Connecticut.
Construction is expected to start once approvals are obtained, aiming for completion within a year. Specific details regarding project costs and job impacts have not been released. The proposal is slated for review at the New Haven City Plan Commission’s meeting on September 16, but may be passed over according to the draft agenda.
