A series of burglaries impacted multiple businesses along J Street in Midtown Sacramento within a 24-hour period. Renee Joneck, owner of Joneck’s Wine Bar, recounted the alarm going off at 4:30 a.m. while she was asleep, alerting her to the break-in. The thief clearly disregarded the alarm, rummaging through the establishment and ultimately fleeing with stolen items.
Joneck’s business was among nine confirmed burglarized, including a nearby bookshop where employees found shattered glass upon arrival. The suspect reportedly used a bike to travel between the stores, indicating a coordinated series of thefts.
Joneck expressed frustration over the lack of protection for small businesses, emphasizing the need for better communication and action from local authorities. Sacramento police have launched investigations and are exploring potential links between the incidents, with several businesses believing they were targeted by the same individual based on video evidence.
