BOYNE CITY, MI — Dust and Blush, a specialized romance bookstore, opened its doors on April 25th, coinciding with Independent Bookstore Day. Founded by Rachael Hilliard, this new shop caters exclusively to romance fans, offering a wide array of subgenres from contemporary to dark romance.
Hilliard, a native of Northern Michigan, turned her dream of bookstore ownership into reality after raising $50,000 through a Kickstarter campaign. Dust and Blush serves as more than just a place to purchase books; it aims to be a community hub for romance enthusiasts to gather, attend events, and connect. “I wanted to create a space where people can find each other and build community,” Hilliard expressed.

To foster a sense of community, Dust and Blush hosts craft nights and book club meetings that encourage lively discussions. Hilliard noted the sessions often stretch to 2.5 hours, emphasizing the strong bonds formed through shared reading experiences.
