CHOP video tackles false information on teen creatine use in the context of the ‘looksmaxxing’ trend.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has released a video addressing concerns about creatine use among teenagers amidst its rising popularity on social media, particularly with the “looksmaxxing” trend. The video warns that creatine is not a quick fix for muscle growth, emphasizing that it does not build muscle on its own.

17-year-old Vedant Srinivasan discusses how social media often presents misleading claims from fitness influencers about the benefits of creatine for teens. CHOP physicians highlight that creatine has not been sufficiently studied in this age group and should not replace healthy habits like exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep.

Experts recommend that parents consult their child’s pediatrician before considering any supplements for their children.
