In this edition of Supplement Shorts, we explore the latest trends in the supplement industry, including the intriguing concept of bundling consumer demands into a single offering. With advancements in the science behind branded ingredients and a surge in new products aimed at gut health and cellular support, there’s a lot to discuss!
Emerging Supplement Trend: Bundling Need States
Kylie Jenner is making waves in the dietary supplement sector, following in her sister’s footsteps with her latest product launch. Her vodka soda brand, Sprinter, has introduced k2o, a line of dietary supplement stick packs featuring unique and bold flavors.
However, it’s not just about the flavors; the product cleverly combines two popular consumer needs—hydration and beauty from within. Its formulation includes essential electrolytes, hyaluronic acid, and collagen peptides marketed as Verisol, produced by Gelita.
In clinical trials, participants who consumed 2.5 grams of bovine-derived bioactive collagen peptides reported fewer wrinkles and improved skin elasticity and hydration compared to those on placebo. Verisol has also shown additional benefits for hair and nails.
“Electrolytes provide immediate hydration support, while collagen works gradually to enhance skin quality,” explained Jay Hunter, CEO of k2o by Sprinter. “The synergy of these components offers a more holistic solution that seamlessly fits into daily routines, eliminating the need for multiple products.”
This product aligns with an emerging trend of combining multiple needs into a single formulation, much like another recent launch featured in Supplement Shorts that incorporated collagen for cognitive and joint health, along with beauty benefits. Hunter observed that while many brands focus separately on hydration or beauty, few harness the potential of both.
“We began with a focus on where consumer demand is highest, particularly at the intersection of hydration and beauty,” Hunter commented.
“Consumers are already familiar with hydration powders, and interest in ingestible beauty is expanding. Combining these in an easy-to-use format seemed like the ideal entry for the brand.”
