NVIDIA Pledges $1 Billion for Advancing U.S. Science in the Next Five Years

Commitments Will Strengthen Fields Critical for US Leadership Including Quantum Computing, Healthcare, and Energy Security

News Summary:

  • NVIDIA announces $1 billion in commitments over five years to advance U.S. science at a Washington event with officials, industry leaders, and the science community.
  • This builds on a two-decade history of collaboration between NVIDIA and national labs.

NVIDIA has officially committed $1 billion to enhance the United States’ capacity for super intelligence research and development in crucial areas such as quantum computing, healthcare, and energy security.

This announcement took place during the “Science: A New Golden Age” event in Washington, D.C., where leaders discussed the public-private partnerships needed for scientific advancement.

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, stated, “President Trump’s Genesis Mission is launching a new golden age of American discovery. With our investment, NVIDIA aims to empower America’s scientists to drive breakthroughs in medicine, energy, and materials. This is how America transforms scientific leadership into industrial strength and creates opportunities for future generations.”

The U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy also marked the expansion of the Genesis Mission, with NVIDIA as a key industry partner. The company invited scientists to collaborate on R&D, utilizing its advanced compute and super intelligence resources to hasten scientific discovery.

Strengthening US Leadership in Scientific Discovery

Over the next five years, NVIDIA will focus its $1 billion investment on:

  • Advancing super intelligence for science and quantum computing.
  • Supporting higher education research institutions.
  • Accelerating U.S. leadership in quantum technologies.
  • Enhancing cloud services for U.S. government mission requirements.

NVIDIA is collaborating on several phase 2 Genesis Mission projects, including those in quantum computing, fusion, accelerator design, and microelectronics.

With over 20 years of partnership with U.S. national labs, NVIDIA’s recent collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on the Genesis Mission includes efforts to develop the department’s largest supercomputer for scientific research at Argonne National Laboratory. Furthermore, NVIDIA is supporting the establishment of seven new systems across Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratories to advance the DOE’s mission of technological leadership.
