Ryan Reynolds fiercely advocated for Blake Lively during a challenging time when she faced backlash while promoting the film “It Ends With Us.” Text messages revealed that Reynolds expressed frustration over Sony Pictures’ lack of public support for Lively amidst accusations of her inappropriate promotion tactics and alleged on-set behavior with co-star Justin Baldoni.
In conversations with talent agent Warren Zavala, Reynolds urged Sony to issue a statement defending his wife against what he described as a coordinated smear campaign. He highlighted the need for Sony to act decisively and condemned their inaction as “unforgivable.” Despite his efforts, his drafted statements went unacknowledged by the studio.
The controversy escalated after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and launching negative press against her. Eventually, in December 2024, Sony released a statement reiterating their support for Lively and condemning reputational attacks against her.
After her legal battle with Baldoni, which ended in a settlement, Lively sought substantial legal fees and made changes to her public relations team.
