Aahs! to Close Its Doors After Halloween, Adding to Recent Business Closures in Westwood

Aahs! The Ultimate Gift Store, a beloved Westwood establishment since 1981, will close its doors for good on November 3. Known for its wide selection of costumes, props, toys, and novelty items, Aahs! is the last store of its kind in the area.

The closure follows the sale of the Westwood location to UC Investments, which also acquired multiple properties in Westwood Village earlier this year. Owner Jack Bhasin attributed the decision to declining foot traffic, recent business closures, and limited parking options.

As the store prepares to close, it is offering discounts of 30-80% on all items. Many locals, like UCLA employee Alex Orozco and student Sam Lee, expressed their sadness over the closure, recalling memories associated with the store and hoping for a small business to take its place.

The future of the Westwood area remains uncertain, especially with several other businesses recently shutting down. Michael Russell from the Westwood Village Improvement Association emphasized efforts to attract more foot traffic and support local businesses moving forward.
