Chuck Renze Automotive Expands into Used Car Sales in Newberry
By Sterling McGinn
Chuck Renze Automotive, located in downtown Newberry, has resumed selling cars, now focusing on a variety of used vehicles. Contrary to recent rumors suggesting the dealership would close, the business is thriving and maintaining its dedicated staff of front-office personnel and skilled technicians.
Previously known as Chuck Renze Ford, the dealership is owned by Chuck and Carole Renze of Manistique, who acquired Rahilly Motors in 2015. They continue to operate the Manistique Ford location and own Renze Power Sports, located directly across from the Newberry garage.
Originally a Ford dealership since 1929, the Newberry location transitioned to primarily servicing vehicles in 2024, following changes from Ford headquarters. The name changed to Renze Automotive, consolidating operations with the Manistique location in March 2024. While new cars are sold and warranty services provided at the Manistique Ford location, the Newberry site is now dedicated to used cars.
In a strategic move, Larry Studley, a seasoned professional with 44 years in the automotive industry, was brought on board to manage used car sales. Studley, who previously worked at Dean Arbour Ford and Sarah Jones Ford, has relocated to Newberry to spearhead the sales efforts.
“Chuck decided to start selling used cars again. We were just servicing cars here,” said Studley. The team is currently focused on rebuilding inventory and getting back into the used car market.
To ensure customer satisfaction, Studley emphasizes fair pricing reflective of the local economy and offers several local financing options. Every vehicle undergoes a thorough inspection by trained technicians in the service department, ensuring quality and reliability before it reaches customers.
While the lot will feature various used cars, Studley assures potential buyers that if they seek a specific vehicle, the team will diligently search for it. Services like vehicle pick-up and delivery, which have already been utilized by customers, enhance the buying experience. Studley has even visited homes to showcase vehicles.
The service department at Renze Automotive is prepared to handle any non-factory warranty repairs, including alignments, tire services, heavy engine work, and routine maintenance.
“We are bound and determined to make this go in Newberry and there are no intentions of closing the doors,” stated Studley. With plans to expand, including the addition of another technician, the team is dedicated to building trust and fostering growth within the Newberry community.
“Our future is going to be in Newberry, and we hope to grow along with the whole community,” he concluded.
