A construction worker was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle on Madison’s east side on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of Pflaum and Alder Roads, close to Sennett Middle School and La Follette High School.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene, though police have identified a person of interest and are in contact with them. Pflaum Road was closed in both directions, leading to modified dismissal plans for the nearby schools.
Captain Ed Marshall of the Madison Police East District noted ongoing traffic safety concerns in the area. The police are currently collaborating with Sennett Middle School to locate any witnesses to the incident, which is under investigation.
This incident is one of several fatal crashes in Madison involving pedestrians in recent months.
