Saab Increases Its Involvement in the Space Sector

Saab is expanding its role in the space sector as a system integrator, aiming to enhance Sweden’s and the Nordic region’s capabilities across the space value chain. The company has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with SSC Space, OHB Sweden, and Ericsson to explore cooperation in multi-domain and space-enabled capabilities.

As space becomes increasingly vital for defense and security—impacting communications, navigation, surveillance, and early warning—Saab recognizes the potential to better connect and leverage existing strengths within Sweden. The cooperation will allow Saab to integrate advanced solutions with partners to strengthen operational systems.

Highlights of the agreements include:

  1. SSC Space: Exploring how Saab’s integration capabilities can be combined with SSC Space’s services, including ground station networks and launch infrastructure.

  2. OHB Sweden: Integrating satellite systems into Saab’s multi-domain solutions to enhance operational awareness, connectivity, and resilience across various domains.

  3. Ericsson: Investigating the integration of terrestrial and space-based communication solutions for future defense and societal resilience.

Saab aims to contribute to a stronger Swedish capability in space through these collaborations, leveraging its expertise to create integrated defense and security solutions.
