A Mishawaka event business, Burns Special Events, is seeking community assistance after a theft involving a company truck and significant equipment valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. Early Saturday, thieves jumped a fence at their property, causing damage while stealing a Ford truck and a trailer containing essential equipment like a forklift and tent components.
Event specialist Lauren Krempec expressed the company’s urgency, stating, “We just want it found. We just want our stuff back.” The stolen Ford truck was towing an identifiable green Avant forklift. This incident poses challenges for upcoming events but the business is committed to serving customers despite the setback.
This theft marks the second incident of theft for the business in 2026; in June, 13 koi fish were stolen but later recovered. Burns Special Events is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or the recovery of the stolen items. They encourage anyone with details to contact local police, though no arrests have yet been made.
