Individual of interest detained following robbery of Beloit establishment using a non-explosive device.

A Beloit business was robbed when a suspect claimed to have a bomb. The incident occurred Thursday in the 700 block of Fourth Street. The suspect threatened staff, took cash, and left a suspicious object on the counter. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the building was evacuated safely. The Winnebago County Bomb Squad later determined the object was non-explosive. A person of interest was arrested nearby, and the FBI has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
