CRUISE-IN: Hot Rodding Celebrity Headlines Show

It isn’t the first time J.F. Launier has attended the Langley Good Times Cruise-In. “It’s a show that I have attended on and off for probably 25 years,” said Launier, an award-winning car builder and owner of JF Kustoms, a renowned custom car and hot rod restoration shop in Osoyoos.
This year, Launier and his shop will be headlining the event, taking over the Aldergrove Car Wash space on Fraser Highway to showcase “a few dozen” of his custom cars. “There’ll be a car coming out of Quesnel, two from Langley, two from Osoyoos, two from Kelowna, and one from Abbotsford, among others,” Launier told the Langley Advance Times.
Among the featured cars is “Rivision,” a bright yellow custom-built 1964 Buick Riviera that won the prestigious Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama in 2014, recognized as North America’s most innovative and creative custom car. “We are the only Canadians to ever win it and the only owner-builder to ever receive the award, so we’re pretty proud of that car,” Launier noted. “It’s probably our flagship car.”
Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 784-horsepower GM LSX engine and taking over 20,000 hours and six years to build, Rivision stands out with its twin turbos mounted in the trunk and specialized fresh-air intakes integrated into the door and seat structures.
Launier is also a recurring cast member on the “Rust Valley Restorers” reality-TV show, which airs on Netflix and the History Channel. The show follows Mike Hall, Avery Shoaf, and the Rust Bros. as they search for rusty classics in the Okanagan Valley to restore and race.
The Langley Good Times Cruise-In is a charity car show held in downtown Aldergrove. This year, the event runs Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. An estimated 1,500 classic, custom, and vintage cars are expected to be on display.
