Reflections on Travel: A Personal Journey
Last month, during Thanksgiving, I felt grateful for the incredible journey life has offered me through travel. Growing up, our family trips from Utah to California laid the foundation for my love of exploration, but a move to Brazil as a teenager truly opened my eyes to the richness of different cultures and experiences.
In my twenties, working for a major airline allowed me to visit remarkable places from Fiji to Italy. Being able to stand in historic sites made lessons from school come alive. Each destination revealed a world full of beauty and history that textbooks could never fully capture.
Throughout my married life with Lori, we’ve ventured to countries like Israel, Greece, and Austria. Each journey has taught me about the struggles and triumphs of different peoples, deepening my understanding of their lives and cultures. Traveling has shifted my narrow viewpoint, allowing me to appreciate the nuances that shape human behavior across the globe.
Every experience has added another chapter to my life. I cherish my memories and can instantly recall them with just a word or a photo. If you haven’t traveled much, I encourage you to explore nearby or far-off places; the joy, wonder, and lessons you’ll gain are immeasurable.
