Indian space startup supported by Google secures $100 million in recent funding round

Indian space tech startup Pixxel has secured $100 million in a Series C funding round, led by Singaporean state investor Temasek and British firm Seraphim. This marks the largest funding round for any space tech company in India. Previous investors, including Radical Ventures and growX Ventures, participated alongside new investors like 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment, bringing Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million.

Founded by Awais Ahmed, Pixxel is one of the first Indian space startups to arise following the government’s liberalization of the sector. The company started with hyperspectral satellites capable of providing detailed Earth imagery. It has since expanded to include its Earth intelligence software, Aurora, and satellite systems for both commercial and sovereign missions.

The new capital will enhance Pixxel’s sensing capabilities through its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution optical imaging satellites, and further develop Aurora into a platform for actionable insights derived from various datasets.
