September 6, 2026 — McDonald’s Launches Texas-Only “Space City” Adult Happy Meal
McDonald’s has unveiled a Texas-exclusive promotion featuring the return of Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce, available since September 1. The campaign celebrates Texas life and culture, inviting customers to connect their personal stories to the diverse chapters that make up the state.
Each Texas Meal consists of either 10-piece Spicy or regular Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a soft drink, and one of seven collectible cups designed by artist Avery Orendorf. Each cup highlights a different Texan city or region, including Houston, known as “Space City,” along with Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin/Central Texas, West Texas, East Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley/South Texas.
The Houston cup features NASA’s space shuttle and an astronaut, inspired by a 1995 photo of astronaut Michael Gernhardt during a spacewalk. This astronaut image has been linked to Texas’ entry for the American Innovation $1 Coin Program. A McDonald’s on NASA Road 1 in Houston even showcases a statue of an astronaut holding fries.
The promotion encourages collection of the themed cups, which are available for about $9 to $11 depending on location, while individual cups can be purchased for $1.50. This initiative not only highlights McDonald’s role in Texas culture but also emphasizes the state’s significant ties to space exploration through various icons and landmarks.
