GSC Game World explains why it didn’t delay Stalker 2: “To improve a project, it’s important to get feedback while it’s still relevant.”

Stalker 2 has had a challenging development journey, transitioning from early stages to a more polished game, as highlighted by GSC Game World CEO Ievgen Grygorovych at Gamescom 2026. He explained the complexities behind the decision to release an unfinished game, citing the need for player feedback and financial constraints.

Given the unique hurdles faced by the Ukrainian studio, including the disruption of Russia’s invasion, an office fire, and exposure to leaks, the decision to launch the game despite bugs was influenced by the broader, challenging market environment. Grygorovych emphasized the need for balance between delivering a quality experience and navigating tough industry realities, including layoffs and studio closures.
