Maeda Kosen (7821.T), primarily engaged in construction and civil engineering materials, announced on September 4 that it has acquired all shares of Nagoya Yuka, a manufacturer of automotive sound-absorbing materials located in Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture. This acquisition, completed on the same day, aims to bolster Maeda Kosen’s automotive components business and stabilize its earnings. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Founded in 1958, Nagoya Yuka is known for its proprietary resin compounding and coating techniques, focusing on sound-absorbing materials used in engine compartments. For the fiscal year ending June 2026, the company reported revenues of ¥1.11 billion (about $7.1 million) and net assets of ¥1.38 billion (approximately $8.8 million).
Previously competitors in the sound-absorbing materials market, Maeda Kosen and Nagoya Yuka will now integrate their product lines and customer bases. This acquisition facilitates the fusion of Maeda Kosen’s thermoplastic resin expertise with Nagoya Yuka’s proficiency in thermosetting resins, paving the way for innovative product development.
With the automotive industry’s shift towards electrification increasing the need for effective soundproofing against road and wind noise, this merger positions Maeda Kosen to offer differentiated solutions. The company plans to streamline its operations across development, manufacturing, and sales to accelerate growth in its automotive components sector.
