Provost Ann Stevens has initiated a national search for the next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, appointing Lori Bergen to chair the search advisory committee. Stevens emphasized Bergen’s respected leadership and inclusive approach as vital to the search process.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to nominate individuals for the committee by September 11. The committee will gather feedback on desired candidate qualities, conduct interviews, and recommend finalists to the provost while maintaining confidentiality.
Plans include forming a committee of 12 to 15 members by September 21, establishing a leadership profile, recruiting candidates in the fall and winter, and inviting finalists to campus in early spring. Russell Reynolds Associates, a prominent executive search firm, will assist in the recruitment process.
Stevens also acknowledged Katherine Eggert, the interim dean, for her steady leadership during this transition following Daryl Maeda’s move to the University of Washington. She emphasized the importance of the College of Arts and Sciences at CU Boulder and looks forward to finding a leader to enhance its strengths and aspirations.
