Marriott International and LG Electronics have established a long-term partnership aimed at enhancing hotel guest room technology. This collaboration will introduce a cloud-based platform for in-room entertainment and connected devices across Marriott’s participating hotels.
The system is designed to upgrade the television experience, while also supporting broader device management and guest services. Marriott is outlining the requirements for guest experiences and operational integration, while LG is developing the platform and providing device management tools.
The new technology will allow Marriott properties to manage LG smart TVs and set-top boxes centrally, potentially reducing reliance on traditional video distribution systems. Hotel teams will benefit from improved device health monitoring, enabling quicker identification of technical issues and more efficient content updates.
The entertainment system will support a mix of linear TV, streaming services, and free ad-supported channels, including over 40 OTT applications and 250 channels. Initial trials of this system will occur at 40 locations in the US and Canada, with possible extensions into public areas of hotel properties.
Marriott’s executive Drew Pinto emphasized that this partnership aims to enhance guest experiences while improving operational efficiency.
